Durational Alimony may be awarded in an Orlando divorce if the marriage was of short or moderate duration.  In Florida, a marriage of less than 17 years would be one in which an award of Durational Alimony may be appropriate.  Consult with your experienced Orlando divorce attorney about whether or not you should seek this type of alimony.

Durational Alimony is one which is given for a specific amount of time.  That amount will not be longer than the length of the marriage.  However, it may be less than the length of the marriage.  In order for a spouse to obtain Durational or any type of alimony, they must prove that they have a financial need for assistance and their spouse has the ability to pay.  Durational Alimony will terminate upon the death of either party or the remarriage of the receiving party.  This will not happen automatically, though.  If you believe your Durational Alimony should be terminated, contact your Family Practice Attorney for assistance in filing the proper Motion with the Court.
