In Orlando, Florida, there are several different types of Alimony that may be awarded in a Dissolution of Marriage (or Divorce) case.  The Court will consider many factors in determining if an award of alimony is appropriate and which type to award.

Durational Alimony is one type which may be considered.  An award of Durational Alimony is typically found in short term marriages or moderate length marriages.  A marriage under 7 years is considered short term.  A marriage that lasted between 7 and 17 years would be considered one of moderate length.

Durational alimony can only be awarded for a specific amount of time.  Once awarded, the amount of time may not be modified except under extraordinary circumstances.  However, either party may request a modification of the amount paid upon a substantial change in financial circumstances.
